Cincinnati Opera and OPERA America present Fierce Grace: Jeannette Rankin, a song cycle about the first woman elected to Congress, featuring mezzo-soprano Peabody Southwell. It was composed by Kitty Brazelton, Laura Kaminsky, Laura Karpman, and Ellen Reid, with text by Kimberly Reed. This event is part of the company’s Championing Women’s Voices initiative.

Fierce Grace: Jeannette Rankin is presented as part of POWER OF HER, a collaboration of Greater Cincinnati organizations that celebrates women’s voices in the arts. The work was created by an all-female composer and librettist team, and celebrates the achievements of Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress and a committed leader of the women’s suffrage movement.
