Beaumarchais’s play Le Mariage de Figaro, the second in the comic “Figaro trilogy,” swirled in controversy after its 1784 premiere in Paris, leading to a ban across Europe. Mozart’s now-famous operatic adaptation debuted in Vienna only two years later. With the help of guest opera singers and favorite actors from the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company stage, we’ll explore the revolutionary themes that lie beneath the charming and clever shenanigans of these comic works.
Admission is free, but tickets are required. Call the Cincinnati Opera Box Office at (513) 241-2742 to reserve.
This event is presented in collaboration with Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
