Opera has a reputation for being dark, gloomy, often tragic. Yet some of opera’s greatest classics are sparkling comedies. Join dramaturg Cori Ellison for a summer romp through some of opera’s sunniest, funniest classics and find the answer to the question: How can music be funny?
Over a series of four Zoom-based classes, we'll focus on four beloved comic masterworks:
Così fan tutte: Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 PM
The Barber of Seville: Thursday, August 13 at 7:00 PM
Falstaff: Thursday, August 20 at 7:00 PM
The Pirates of Penzance: Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 PM
A single ticket ($65) provides one device/household access to all 4 classes. A whole household is welcome to tune in on one device together. We are limiting the class to 40 devices to keep the experience intimate.
