For nine decades, Cincinnati Opera has brought passion, romance, exhilaration, and the magic of world-class opera to Cincinnati. To celebrate our 90th Anniversary, Cincinnati Opera will open the 2010 season with an all-star Gala Concert.
The one-night-only event includes performances by sopranos Christine Brewer and Angela Brown, mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, tenors Richard Leech and Mark Panuccio, and bass James Morris, along with respected conductors leading the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra: Metropolitan Opera Music Director and Cincinnati native James Levine, who returns to Cincinnati Opera for the first time since his debut in 1971; Edoardo Müller, a Cincinnati Opera favorite who has conducted in the major opera houses of the world; and Steven Reineke, best known to Cincinnati audiences as associate conductor with the Cincinnati Pops and newly named Music Director of the New York Pops. Opera luminaries Roberta Peters and Sherrill Milnes will also share the spotlight as co-hosts of the event.
Tickets for this event go on sale to the public beginning April 19. Subscribers, however, will have exclusive advance access to purchasing tickets to the Gala Concert. More detailed information to come. An optional black-tie dinner will precede the concert; space is limited, and subscribers will have first access to these seats.
